Scott Credit Union & Mastercard: An Upgrade Designed for You
In direct response to your feedback, we are upgrading our entire card lineup to Mastercard® to bring you modern features like secure tap-to-pay technology. This transition comes at absolutely no cost to you, giving you enhanced account flexibility and a more secure checkout while keeping the same low rates and service you count on every day.
Your new Mastercard debit or credit card will be mailed to you automatically. Debit cards will be mailed in waves from late-August through September, followed by credit cards in early-October. Once you receive and activate your new card, you’ll be able to enjoy all the benefits of your upgraded Mastercard.

How to Prepare for Your Upgrade
To ensure your new card arrives safely, please take a moment to verify your contact information. Log into SCU Digital Banking to ensure your current mailing address and contact details are up to date. Don’t have access to Digital Banking? Confirm your information at your local SCU branch or call our Member Contact Center at (618) 345-1000.

Why the Upgrade
We’re upgrading to Mastercard to deliver enhanced benefits (such as tap-to-pay), stronger security features, and expanded digital and global acceptance, while continuing to offer low member rates and trusted service.
Many core features of your membership will not change, including:
- Your personal and business account numbers.
- Access to SCU Digital Banking, including the SCU Mobile App.
- Any savings accounts, investments, and other SCU services not related to debit and credit cards.
- Low rates and local support.
Most members will automatically receive a comparable or upgraded Mastercard product. If any action is required, you will be notified directly.
No. There will only be a soft pull of your credit. You will maintain the credit history from when you originally applied for your card. The date of origination will not change.
Yes! Your new Scott Credit Union Debit and Credit cards support tap-to-pay and chip payments.
Timing & Expectations
No. This process will happen in waves, beginning with debit cards. You will receive advanced communications before any cards are reissued or Visa cards stop working. Specific dates will be shared with impacted members.
Debit cards will be mailed in late August through September.
Credit cards will be mailed beginning in early October.
Late fall. We will share specific dates after all cards have been mailed.
Funds will be available for use immediately upon activation of your new card.
Yes! Updates will be required. As soon as you receive and activate your new card, you will need to update all recurring payments and your digital wallet.
You can activate your new card in SCU Digital Banking (online or via our mobile app) or by calling the phone number included with your card.
- Debit & HSA Cards: Log in to Digital Banking or call (833) 541-0780. Have your SSN, ZIP code, and CVV ready to verify. To select your PIN, call (833) 541-0780.
- Credit Cards: Call (800) 456-6870. Have your primary phone number and primary cardholder SSN ready to verify. To select or change your PIN, call (866) 297-3408.
Once you activate your new Mastercard, safely destroy your old Visa card.
For security purposes, your new card will arrive in a plain white envelope.
Yes, your 16-digit card number, expiration date, and 3-digit security code will all be new.
Cards are being reissued in waves. Debit cards will be mailed in late August through September. Credit cards will be mailed in October.
Rewards
Yes, your points will be transferred.
Most of our upgraded Mastercards will continue to earn reward points. However, Secured and Business Mastercards will transition to a non-rewards structure. If you hold one of these two specific card types, any rewards balance you have earned on your Visa card will transfer over to your new Mastercard and remain available for you to redeem for one calendar year following the conversion.
